About Lauren Cook

Lauren CookAs a mental health professional, Lauren saw countless college students struggling with emotional health issues. Lauren has met with hundreds of students who are privately struggling with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and the like. Lauren found students were desperate for help and were either too afraid or overwhelmed to get the support they needed. With her master’s in marriage and family therapy from the University of Southern California, and her current work toward her doctorate in clinical psychology from Pepperdine, she has been able to help students who have been struggling.

Lauren wanted to create something that thousands of students could immediately access. She is the author of two books, The Sunny Side Up! Celebrating Happiness and Name Your Story: How to Talk Openly About Mental Health While Embracing Wellness, the basis of the Name Your Story online education program.

Lauren believes that the best thing that students can do for their mental health is to empower themselves by gaining knowledge which includes the signs and symptoms of disorders, along with how to access help. Lauren seeks to help students take ownership for their journey and to no longer feel ashamed for needing or wanting help. Name Your Story in a platform to help students begin and/or continue their journey to mental health and wellbeing.
