Angela Gargano

Angela Gargano is a fierce athlete, coach, international fitness model, and speaker. Before becoming a full-time multi-passionate entrepreneur, Angela worked as a biochemist at Brown University. Since throwing in the lab coat and goggles in 2013 to open her own gym in Cranston, Rhode Island, Angela has truly lived multiple lives in the athletic and entrepreneurial space, defying odds and setbacks to become an authentic and relatable voice to the public eye.

Angela has now competed on American Ninja Warrior 4x, won the Title of Miss Fitness America 2016, and created an online fitness empire for women called Strong Feels Good, where she teaches women to ditch the scale and focus on strength and feeling as a way to measure progress. She has also helped over 500 women conquer their pull-ups with her online program, Pull-up Revolution. In summer 2021, Angela appeared all over the world as the Oxygen Magazine Covergirl, where she spoke about tearing her ACL on the Ninja Warrior course and coming back 11 months later stronger than ever.

Angela is a huge advocate for speaking about body image, as she was made fun of growing up for her “manly” arms and build. She would hide in a sweatshirt daily at school to avoid being made fun of, and was rejected by many fitness modeling agencies. But this didn’t stop Angela from now having 3 magazine covers and becoming an international fitness model in some of the world’s biggest publications: Women’s Health, Shape, Strong Fitness Magazine, and Popsugar Fitness.

Angela is strong, both mentally and physically, and she teaches you to love the body you are in. She is real, relatable, approachable, and down-to-earth. With Angela, there is fun and smiles, and there is grit, determination, and sweat. She is easy to understand and great to work with. Angela’s mission is to revolutionize how people feel about their bodies by identifying their inner strength and embracing the powerful body and mind they have been gifted.

This is NOT an AD haha 😂 I got mine a few months ago and am loving it. It tracks my sleep, literally tells me when I’m about to get sick, takes my temperature to track my cycle with @naturalcycles . 

As I get more curious about my health, things like this help me to really optimize and understand my body so I can show up as my best self…and maybe even run the Ninja Course this year (stay tuned 🙃) for more news on that.

Women can’t do pull-up 🙄….

Not only have I heard this from people BUT I’ve also heard it from women themselves…

They think it’s impossible 🤷🏻‍♀️…

1- A lot of women are intimidated by this goal because it seems impossible…and even doing elementary school physical fitness test…they were told “just hang” already mentally putting them in a place of “it’s impossible”

2-Are pull-ups harder for women though ? Yes..I do believe they are, typically women are stronger in their legs and don’t have developed of a back as men. (I have the opposite problem 🤣 my legs hate me) 

3-But when I help women conquer their pull-up for the first time…it unlocked so much for them, confident, possibilities & so much more !

And once I shifted my mindset everything changed my body & my confidence

How do I know how much protein I am eating? 

You might have been seeing a lot of information out there about how important it is to hit about 1g of protein per pound per day which is about 30-50 grams of protein per meal. I personally am 126 pounds so I should aim for 126g of protein. 

But what does 30-50g of protein even look like? I want to show you an example of a meal and break down the estimate protein about in it! I will go through each part of the meal and then estimate the TOTAL grams at the end! See if you can guess before I post it! 

Potatoes = ~3g Protein 
Greenbeans = ~1.8g Protein 
Carrots = ~1.8g Protein 
Brussel Sprouts = ~3g Protein 
3oz Chicken = ~35g Protein 

To the plate of ONE serving I have here would be…

Total = ~35 + ~0.45 + ~0.45 + ~0.75+ ~0.75 = ~37.4g 
Sneak in a @slatemilk to add even more protein without getting cray full 

= 37.4g + 20g (Slate Milk) = 57.4g

@slatemilk is 20g of protein and only 110 calories so it doesn’t feel like your adding something super heavy on a meal !
